Learn about Subsidized Employment
Employers
The EC Works Subsidized Employment Program is offering local employers an opportunity to collaborate with the Employment Connection to provide CalWORKs job seekers with fantastic employment options. Employers who participate will have exclusive access to a qualified pool of candidates who are prepared and enthusiastic about working for you. After interview and hire, all EC Works employers are eligible to receive 100% wage reimbursement for six-months to help offset the cost of new employee onboarding and training. Following the subsidy period, new employees are expected to continue their employment while still receiving supportive services and coaching from the Employment Connection.
The program represents a substantial investment in the community and mutually beneficial perks for clients and employers alike. Call an Employment Relations Counselor today to find out how your business can join the EC Works program, (408)758-3797.
Job seekers
Through our Subsidized Employment Program, eligible CalWORKs job seekers who are participating in their assigned employment services activity can be connected to an employer who is ready to hire! Employers have their full-time openings listed with the Employment Connection, and your Employment Counselor can refer you to the participating employer for an interview. During the first six months of employment while you are training, the employer will receive a reimbursement of 100% of the wages they pay you. After the six months and demonstrating you can meet the employer’s expectation and do your job well, you will continue your employment. You will continue to have support of an Employment Counselor.
You can also participate in Paid Work Experience (PWEX) if you need to build skills, practice your good work habits, and develop a reference. PWEX participants work 20 hours per week at County and non-profit organizations and receive coaching and guidance from an Employment Counselor. Participants also continue to receive supportive services while they are on their PWEX assignment.
